Prospects for SW-Western Australia integrating tourism and agri-food systems
Project Summary
This project uses a systems theory framework to analyse and progress understanding about how agri-food systems combined with niche tourism can contribute to promoting and fostering regional development. Supporting an effective and comprehensive regional food system can mitigate problems of weakening rural economic activity and associated social decline. This research generates new knowledge and empirical data about food systems, revealing the fundamental interactions, impediments and facilitators to sustainable regional development. Outcomes and benefits can contribute to all three pillars of regional sustainability through economic advancement, environmental management and community well-being by providing business support and policy resources.
