The Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre invites you to the launch of the first report in the Focus on Industry report series – a new research program that focuses on specific Industry Insights. This report will address a key economic issue facing Western Australia, agriculture and agribusiness in WA.

Agribusiness has historically been an important industry for the Australian and WA economies. As businesses, investors and the government look for new sources of growth and prosperity in the midst of a declining mining sector, even greater attention is now being placed on the industry.

In this report, we explore if WA is positioned to take advantage of the unique opportunity presented by the increasing global demand for high quality, secure food produce. In doing so, we analyse the contribution of agribusiness to the WA economy, and assess our natural endowments, and innovative and productivity capabilities to meet increased global demand. The report highlights the key challenges, risks and policy issues requiring attention to ensure that WA agribusiness secures its place at the global dinner table.
