Director’s Welcome
The Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre was established at a critical stage of economic development in Western Australia. After a period of record-high terms of trade and strong global demand for the state’s natural resources, the signs are that WA is entering a new phase of economic development as world demand weakens and the state’s industrial composition changes.
The next decade provides great opportunities for WA, but challenges too in maintaining its strong growth trajectory. Government, policymakers and businesses need access to the highest quality research and analysis on the big economic, financial and social issues facing the state. The Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre will fill this role.
We are committed to ensuring that the significant research investment by Bankwest and Curtin University will lead to research of benefit and value to the state and the wider community.
