Project Summary

This project examines the extent to which the work roles of older workers enable them to accommodate changes in their informal care roles and remain in paid work. It models the interactions between informal care roles, work environment factors and employment retention rates using data from the Household Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) survey. A linked project explores the role of workforce participation and other factors in determining portfolio diversity and individual wealth outcomes for Australian women and men. Outcomes have included BCEC working papers and journal articles on the effects of care roles, the modelling and interaction effects and the gender wealth gap.
