Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre Annual Report 2024

In 2024, the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre made significant strides in building its national reputation while continuing to address key economic and social issues in Western Australia.

Our research and policy advice gained greater visibility and influence at both state and national levels through high-profile engagements while expanding our reach internationally.

Thanks to the team’s hard work, the Centre’s research had more than 7,200 publication downloads, almost 1,300 media mentions, and 99 speaking engagements throughout the year.

Our research explored topics including employment and disability, gender equality, construction and innovation.

We also worked on partnered research, including child poverty in Australia with the Valuing Children Initiative, decent work with HESTA and the household impacts of trade with China for the Australia China Business Council.

From the inaugural Youth Forum, to year one of the Centre of Excellence to Eliminate Violence Against Women’s Curtin node, 2024 was also a year of big firsts for the centre.
