Designing integrated, person-centred models through population and health planning
Project Summary
Advance Ageing WA commissioned a comprehensive and forward-looking program of research to design aged care models that are rights-based, person-centred, and fully integrated with the health system.
This project will anticipate the needs of a diverse and ageing Western Australian population, identify gaps in infrastructure and workforce capacity, and create tools that allow policymakers to explore multiple plausible futures, whilst addressing critical data gaps, particularly concerning aged care waitlists, service availability, and health outcomes for those awaiting care.
The Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre (BCEC) proposes a methodological approach to the research scope that draws on BCEC’s expertise in health-related research, scenario-based modelling, population forecasting, and spatial analysis. Our approach combines advanced quantitative modelling with stakeholder-informed scenario design and is grounded in local data and international best practice.
The outputs will connect aged care planning to housing, healthy ageing strategies, cultural diversity, Indigenous care needs, and regional variations.
