Chris Twomey is back in the water and winning state titles.

After a two-year hiatus from the state championships due to illness, Chris, Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre’s Senior Industry Fellow, has returned to winning form.

Held in Geraldton, Western Australia, on 20 and 21 July, Chris carved some great waves to take out both the Over-40 Men’s and Over-50 Men’s Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) divisions at the 2024 Stand Up Surf Shop North Freo WA SUP Championships.

“It was fantastic to get back into the water and be able to give it my best shot,” Chris said.

“Coming to terms with managing ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis) has been challenging, and having Curtin and BCEC as a supportive employer made all the difference.”

Chris will be heading on to the national SUP titles on Phillip Island in Victoria in late October this year.

We wish Chris all the best as he prepares for the national titles later in the year.
