BCEC’s Chris Twomey claims two more state SUP titles

BCEC Senior Industry Fellow Chris Twomey has claimed two more state stand up paddleboarding (SUP) titles, bringing his total to 13.
Held in Denmark on 31 May and 1 June, Chris won the Open Men and Over 50s Men titles at the Western Australian State Stand Up Paddleboarding Titles.
Chris was one of only two competitors to win multiple state championships on the day and also placed runner-up in the Over 50s 9-Foot division.
“We faced challenging conditions for the finals on Sunday, with a major storm hitting the South West,” Chris said. “You really had to pick your waves between squalls and make the most of the opportunities.”
Chris will head to the national titles in November after a torn hamstring in 2025 disrupted his campaign.
“I’m looking forward to returning to Phillip Island in November to try to win back the National Over 50s Title that I won in 2024.”
Looking ahead, Chris is excited to see the next generation coming up in the competition.
“It was great to see some new faces competing this year, and we are hoping to see more joining in next season to open the sport up to the next generation.”
