Lili Loan Vu

Biography

Dr Lili Loan Vu is a Research Fellow at the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Western Australia and a Master’s degree in Finance from the University of Technology Sydney.

Lili is an applied economist with over six years of experience in policy evaluation and impact-focused research. She has led and contributed to interdisciplinary projects in collaboration with government, industry, academia, and the not-for-profit sector.

Her research focuses on vulnerable populations, including women and children, people with disability, Indigenous communities, prisoners, and individuals affected by violence or social disadvantage, across key domains such as education, employment, gender equity, health, and wellbeing.

She is highly skilled in advanced quantitative analysis of large-scale national and international datasets and applies mixed-methods approaches to inform decision-making.

Lili has a strong track record in developing research proposals, supervising PhD students and research assistants, and mentoring junior researchers through leadership programs.

She has extensive experience translating complex findings into clear, policy-relevant advice and outputs, including policy briefs, executive summaries, reports, media commentaries, and academic publications.

Lili has presented her research to academic, government, and industry audiences through conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Her work has been published in leading international journals such as Economics & Human Biology, The Journal of Development Studies, and PLOS Medicine.
