The Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre invites you to the launch of a new report in the BCEC Feature report series, The Impact of Airbnb on Western Australia’s Tourism Industry.

This report looks at the rapid growth of the sharing economy in recent years and how it has challenged traditional economies in many countries around the globe. Airbnb is an online platform that enables people to list, find and book accommodation worldwide with more than 1.5 million listings in more than 190 countries. Many consider Airbnb as one of the most disruptive developments in tourism over the past decade.

The report will be launched at a BCEC WA in the Spotlight series workshop featuring a presentation of final results from a BCEC-funded project led by Associate Professor Christof Pforr and co-investigator Dr Michael Volgger from the School of Marketing at Curtin University, on the main characteristics of Airbnb in Western Australia as well as its growth and impact.

To assist an informed decision making on the Airbnb phenomenon, a panel of key stakeholders from industry and government will then discuss potential implications of this research, followed by a Q&A session.
